Our senior citizens deserve care and security as they age. Too often, they are left without the support they need.
It is not right that elderly patients are abandoned in hospital because no one will step up as a guardian. I am co-chair of the Guardianship Task Force Committee, which will provide a pathway and safe transition for patients to the appropriate level of care. I will be introducing new legislation that will fix this problem to provide secure guardianship.
Our veterans are Delaware’s best. They fought for us. We must fight for them.
I am a co-sponsor of HB 90, a bill that created a trust fund to help veterans with their medical needs. While much of our nation’s veteran care starts and ends at the federal level, I believe there are many things that we can and should be doing at the state level. At the end of the day, we cannot ask our veterans to delay treatment, or suffer from substandard care, while bureaucracy slowly works things out. They deserve more.
